Information:Gründung 1873 als “Herforder Hemdenfabrik J. Elsbach & Co.” in Herford und Löhne, AG seit 1907. Großaktionär war die noch heute als Jeansproduzent bekannte und erfolgreiche Textilfirma Adolf Ahlers. Umfirmiert 1938 in “Herforder Wäschefabriken AG” und 1952 in “Elsbach Wäschefabriken AG”, 1977 Umwandlung in eine GmbH & Co. KG. Das Unternehmen, das einst zu den bedeutendsten Industriebetrieben in Herford zählte, ging 1993 in Konkurs.
